Item Description

This small pitcher or creamer, made in England during the Victorian era is indeed lustrous.  Lusterware is a type of pottery or porcelain with a metallic glaze that gives the effect of iridescence.  These pieces were popular before electric lighting brightened dim gas or candle lit rooms.  The iridescence would give off a comforting soft glow. Lusterware has been around for thousands of years, but English potters in the 1800's perfected techniques to make this pottery available and affordable to a wider audience.

Pitcher measures 5" high, x 5" at widest point, and 2 1/4" at the base.  Condition is near perfect with no chips, or cracks.
