Talcott Mountain Academy — Where K-8 gifted and talented students thrive in a fun, challenging and supportive environment. With a full curriculum, differentiated instruction and passionate teaching staff, students learn to ask questions, find answers, and unlock their full potential.
STEM Programs at Talcott Mountain — Encourage learning year-round with Talcott’s Summer of STEM Adventures, and Saturday & School Vacation programs for students in grades K-8. With hands-on experiments and creative learning inspired by science and our mountaintop campus — Talcott’s carefully crafted programs spark your child’s innate sense of curiosity while fostering teamwork, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The end result? Children realize that learning is fun, and develop a love of learning that lasts a lifetime. An awe- and art-inspiring moment! This afternoon, Dean Gibb`s eagle eye spotted a red-tailed hawk on campus. It appeared to be soaking in the sun and drying off after today`s storms; and the sight was so magnificent that some of our students were inspired to draw it during art class!

And they`re off!! Our TMA upper suite students are heading to the Herkimer Diamond Mines in New York for their traditional biyearly field trip. This trip is part of our Earth Science Course—a supplemental unit in Geology focusing on fossils and minerals, specifically quartz crystals known as “Herkimer Diamonds.” First stop on the way – Beckley Furnace, in Canaan, where they used to make iron.

Earth Day was a success. Our academy students celebrated with a campus wide clean up and building raised beds for our campus vegetable garden.

Enrichment programs for our TMA students are experienced weekly. Students have the opportunity to receive advanced instruction in the activity of their choice. This week our students explored; Hiking about the mountain top, expressing themselves in Play Rehearsal and telecommunication in Radio Science.

Our April Vacation program was a megahit! Our students had a blast in, Weather Wizards, Reach for the Stars and Electricity & Circuits programs. All three programs will be offered again in TMSC`s Summer of STEM Adventures. Register today to capture these final seats!
