Cornerstone Learning Community is hosting our Annual Spring Auction "Fiesta Under the Stars", at the Goodwood Museum & Gardens on March 19, and you can start bidding on some great items now on this website.  The online auction will run until to March 14, 2010, and the items will then be transferred to the live event.  Auction items range from wonderful vacation getaways to donated items guaranteed to delight and surprise. So, tell your friends, family, and community and let the bidding begin!

Proceeds from the event will benefit our Financial Assistance Program and educational enrichment at the school.  Through partnerships with community sponsors, our goal is to raise thirty thousand dollars at this year's event.

Cornerstone Learning Community is an independent school with a public mission. Our community will be diverse in ethnicity, economic means, beliefs, and experiences. CLC's academic program builds a community of life-long learners, reflecting individual interests, strengths, and styles of learning. Our goal is to provide experiences that help children understand and treasure differences. An integrated curriculum that engages the mind, body, and spirit will lay the foundation for success and fulfillment.

Our graduates will exemplify the traits of integrity, independence, leadership, and compassion. We believe that all children can be learners and teachers. Children are more active and more engaged when they initiate learning for their own purposes, but their interaction with fellow learners and skilled guidance from teachers create interests and motivation for learning at many levels. Therefore, our curriculum will invite children to follow their interests and to share their knowledge and skill with peers through a balance of cooperative learning and more structured skills and activities.

Your Generous Donations Support the Annual Spring Auction

Thank you to everyone who responded to our call for volunteers for Cornerstone's Annual Spring Auction, "Fiesta Under the Stars."  We still need more of you but it is very exciting to see your enthusiasm and willingness to support this important CLC Fundraiser.

Some of you have already started inquiring about how to donate auction items.  As you can imagine, the solicitation of auction items is a huge endeavor and such a vital part of the success of this fundraiser. We have an excellent Procurement committee (and more members are needed) but if every CLC family could consider donating or soliciting even one item just imagine how many items we would have.  Plus, it will greatly add to your own personal enjoyment at the event to see people bidding and fighting over YOUR item(s)!

And it does not mean you need to go out and spend money buying an auction item.  For those who are comfortable seeking donations of items or gift cards, go for it.  If you have unused gifts that would otherwise languish in a closet, bring them in.  If you spot something on closeout, pick it up.  We have an amazingly CREATIVE community of both students and parents. Your talents and professional services are very valuable, and ideas are limitless.

If you know of a business that may be interested in donating but you feel shy or afraid of rejection, please pass the name on to Jessica Kimelman, Chair of the Procurement committee, at jlskphd@comcast.net and she will have someone make the ask.

We would like to thank our sponsors...
