On Saturday, April 7th, 2012,Solaiman Nuri and his 9 year old daughter Hadees were struck by an SUV while riding their bikes in Concord and killed. Hadees' 12 year old sister also suffered minor injuries.
Solaiman is remembered for his dedication to his family - making time for his daughters' school events and coaching their soccer team. He is described as one of the kindest, most positive people they'd known -- a man whose life centered around his family and community service.
"He was a great human being," said Zaki Sahar, who coached soccer alongside Nuri at the Aria Sports Club, a nonprofit organization in Concord serving local Afghan youth.
Hadessa is remembered by her friends as fun and active - "Lovable. Always happy," was how her best friend described her. "She loved to run on the grass, play on the monkey bars."
Friends said her father shared the same upbeat disposition.
The Woodside Elementary Parent Faculty Club is auctioning off an autographed San Jose Earthquakes Jersey with the proceeds going to the memorial fund set up in Solaiman and Hadessa's name. The San Jose Earthquakes donated this jersey in recognition of Solaiman's dedication to his family and his involvement in coaching the local youth soccer. All proceeds and donation from this auction will go to The Solaiman and Hadessa Nuri Memorial Fund.
