The online auction portion of Zoofari was a great success. Thank you all for taking the time to support Gladys Porter Zoo and construction of the Russell Aquatic Ecology Center.
The Center will measure 6,535 square feet and occupy the current Aquatic Wing site as well as a section of the large adjacent Bongo display yard. It will feature: a freshwater giants encounter, a ray “touch pool,” jellyfish exhibit, native Texas salt and freshwater sport fish displays, a mangrove tank, a grassbed habitat, and a jetties exhibit. Colorful, suspended educational banners and graphics will communicate key concepts concerning ecosystems and the need to preserve them.
