In 2012, the School’s leadership laid out a vision for Barnesville as a school of arts and sciences, offering an outstanding academic program rich in the humanities, arts, math and science.

This vision is true to our history, mission, and values and is a natural progression of Barnesville’s “whole child” approach. It also drives our perpetual aspiration to bolster programming, challenging us to be ever mindful to balance both sides of the arts and sciences equation.

We continue to work to fulfill this vision by building on to our stellar program:

We have been working to adopt Next Generation Science Standards published by the National Science Teachers Association.

We continue to partner with organizations like Black Rock Center for the Arts and Red Wiggler Farm to create meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities.

We launched a new, ongoing, school-wide partnership with Black Hill Regional Park that enhances outdoor and environmental education across the School’s curriculum. Every month, naturalists from Black Hill visit with Barnesville classes on campus in relation to an additional outdoor experience at the Park.

Our entire faculty was trained in Flying WILD -- a national program that offers a whole-school approach to environmental education using birds as the focus.

Black Hill Park naturalists are advising us on a multi-year bird study for the next phase of our field guide documenting campus wildlife.

Woodcarving specialist, Gary Stenger, sponsored the entire Barnesville student body’s participation in a national art show competition.

The Middle School dedicated one full day each month to “Collaborative Days” built around cross-curricular projects, hands-on learning, or field studies.

Lower School students have “TEA Time” (Team Enrichment Activities) three Fridays a month, when students participate in arts and sciences enrichment activities.

Through these initiatives, our students explore how subjects relate to one another, helping them to make connections that spark inquiry and deepen understanding.

With your support this evening, together we can provide our teachers with the tools they need to allow our students to continue to IMAGINE, EXPLORE, GROW, and ACHIEVE.
