Tonight’s high bidder and a companion will travel to beautiful Sonoma, California, to enjoy a two-night stay at Landmark Vineyards. You will have your choice of either the property’s beautifully appointed one-bedroom cottage overlooking the vineyard or the elegantly decorated Guest Suite that boasts a heart-stopping view of Sugarloaf Ridge and Hood Mountain. The Guest Cottage has a full kitchen, a sunny sitting room, bath and laundry facilities, while the Guest Suite is furnished with a king bed or two twin beds and features a private patio and a romantic fireplace. Both are simply sumptuous. A private tour and tasting will take you behind the scenes at the estate and into the vineyards and cellar. Explore Landmark's history, Mission-style property and winemaking techniques and then indulge in a special tasting of rich, balanced vintages perfect for pairing with a multitude of cuisines. One such wine is the 2008 Overlook Chardonnay, and a Magnum goes home with the high bidder tonight. The 2008 Overlook is made from some of the finest Chardonnay vineyards in California, including Charles Heintz’s vineyard along the Sonoma Coast and the Sangiacomo family’s Green Acres Hill vineyard in Carneros. The lot includes yet another coveted bottle from Landmark Vineyards: an etched Double Magnum of 2000 Landmark Chardonnay Damaris Reserve, donated by Priscilla Panzer in memory of Bill Panzer. Never flamboyant, this wonderful, clean vintage allows its complexity and intensity to speak for itself. The wine is rich, flavorful, full of finesse; truly the best of the vintage.
