Item Description

Prep@Pingree is an academic enrichment program for middle school students from urban neighborhoods in Lawrence and Lynn.  Conducted on the Pingree campus for five weeks in the summer and continuing through off-campus outreach during the school year, the program enables 35 students who have successfully completed the seventh and eighth grades to sharpen their math, verbal, analytical, written, and study skills.

In addition to math and English courses, the Prep@Pingree curriculum includes classes in engineering design and history, as well as educational trips to sites in Essex County and beyond. Classes are taught by experienced independent and public school faculty and  Prep@Pingree alumni who are assisted in their teaching by Pingree student instructors. Past participants are invited to return as student mentors and receive additional academic preparation.
