Mosaic artist Kathy Thaden of Golden, describes working with glass as a transforming process. The pieces are broken, change shape, fit together, and then are made whole again with glue or grout - sometimes in unexpected ways. Kathy's mosaics range from conceptual sculptures and abstract landscapes to contemporary liturgical and commissioned works. In 2009, she won Best of Show at Contemporary Mosaic Art in Charlotte, N.C. "You are the Branches," features a tree firmly rooted to support and nurture the many branches it bears. She incorporates stained glass, millefiori and glass beads in her mosaic which reads: "I am the Vine, You are the Branches."
