Item Description

You are bidding on the Ace of Spades, a 10.5 inch by 14.5 inch gouache on paper painting by Lesley Atlansky.

This work has an estimated value of $300.

Proceeds from the sale of this piece will benefit Young Audiences of Oregon and SW Washington, an organization that connects classroom teachers with over 200 skilled residency & performing artists who provide programs in multiple artistic disciplines and cultures.  Together they use the arts to make learning come alive for their students.

Lesley's summer vacations as a child were spent abusing the family Volvo on bumpy dirt roads in the back country of the western United States. These trips brought into focus for Lesley the vast array of shapes and colors that mark the physical landscapes that surround us, and she uses this foundation to create dream-like scenes with layers of gouache. Lesley was a founding member of the Spiral Gallery Co-operative in Estacada, Oregon before moving to Portland. Her art has been exhibited at a number of venues in the greater Portland area, including a year-long show through the Clackamas County Arts Action Alliance. Lesley was born and raised in Southern California, and currently lives in a multigenerational household in Northeast Portland. For more information about Lesley visitwww.lesleyatlansky.com.

Item Special Note

THE FINE PRINT:

Please note that the description above was submitted by the artist.  Also note that the image depicted with the listing is the image used in the Portland Project Deck ... which may be slightly different from the original artwork you are bidding on.  The original artwork also may have had additional aspects or features digitally added to prepare it for inclusion in the deck.  In some listings (but not all) we have mentioned differences between the card image and the original artwork, but in all cases you take final responsibility to be comfortable with the piece of art you are bidding on.  If you have any questions about the difference between the image and the original piece, we encourage you to see the actual piece of art in person before you bid (they are all even more incredible live).  In all cases the artwork is ready to hang but the pieces vary in terms of framing, attached hardware, etc.  To find out where you can view the actual artwork, visit www.facebook.com/artinhandpdx or view the home page of the auction where we have all the showings listed.  If you are the winning bidder we will expect you to make arrangements to have your art picked up either between 9-10pm at the closing reception Saturday evening May 22 or over the following couple of days at Splendorporium (3421 SE 21st Ave) between 11am and 5pm.  If you prefer the artwork to be shipped, expect to pay actual packing and shipping costs (which will vary for each item depending the size, framing, etc.) plus a $25 handling fee.  Note that this could get expensive, so we encourage you to make arrangements to have it picked up locally.  Note that we will not pre-calculate packing and shipping. Although the auction requires you to register a credit card to bid, we will NOT automatically bill your card if you are a winning bidder, as we would prefer to collect your payment by check or cash when you pick up your artwork.  You will receive notice from us if you are the winning bidder with your options.
