Item Description

It could be argued that there is no stronger winemaking team than Bob Levy and Martha McClellan – numerous Napa Valley Cabernets made by this pair have ranked in the Top 10 by The Wine Spectator. Between them they have been involved with such greats as Harlan, Bond, and Sloan. With a pedigree like that, their own label, Levy & McClellan, is destined for the same cult status and stratospheric accolades.

You can be one of the first – the few – to experience the latest offering by these two celebrated winemakers, with a Magnum of their 2006 Levy & McClellan Napa Valley Red. The wine is truly a child of the vineyard’s distinct location, nestled into the foot of the Mayacamas mountain range along a geological fault line. The site is an intermingling of two distinguishing soil types, oceanic and volcanic.

The dense, ripe tannins reflect the temperate growing season as the wine continues to develop, expressing the notable characteristics of its origin. Dense vine spacing, a consistently small berry size and markedly low yield of 1 ton per acre, results in a small amount of exceptionally full-bodied wine steeped in layers of resounding concentration. Commitment, patience and 26 months in barrel have integrated the rich tannins, adding further weight and enhancing the sumptuous elegance of the wine.
