Item Description

Experience the Twin Cities' only interactive railroad facility that's been in continuous operation for over 100 years. Today, it houses a fully interactive train museum featuring restored railcars, locomotives, operating signals, model trains and children's play area. Watch the active restoration process of full size rail equipment including steam and diesel engines and vintage passenger cars or wave at the freight trains rolling by outside the windows. Travel through history with in-depth exhibits featuring local and regional railway history. Experience a genuine operating roundhouse turntable, one of the last of its kind in the country.

The Great Northern Railway's historic Jackson Street Roundhouse, a former steam engine maintenance facility, provides a unique opportunity for kids of all ages to experience railroading in the Twin Cities and Upper Midwest.

Open Wednesdays and Saturdays, 10am-4pm, year-round

Caboose rides Saturdays, included with admission, leaves every half hour, ride as many times as you like! Reservations recommended, but not required. Groups encouraged to make reservations prior to ride.
