This team was coached by Joe B. Hall and beat Duke coached by Bill Foster in the Championship game 94-88. This team finished the season ranked #1 by the Associated Press.

Jack "Goose"Gibbons scored a career high 41 points. Rick Robey scored 20 points. Kyle Macy was the sparkplug for Kentucky.

Duke was led by Mike Giminski (20 points), Gene Banks (22points) & Jim Spanarkel (21 points).
