3.5-4 foot Green Mountain Sugar Maple planted anywhere in Vermont. This desirable tree is an upright oval shape, with good-looking leathery leaves that turn the most amazing shades of brilliant red, yellow and orange in the cooler zones. Green Mountain Sugar Maple is noted for its improved performance in dry, restricted growing areas such as sidewalks, parking lots and driveways, so don’t worry about planting them nearby. This superior tree carries the best traits of its species, most notably its sturdy limbs and fall color, with the added plus of small seeds and minimal tree litter. Add this tree to your landscape in an open lawn area as a shade or specimen tree, or put a pair of them out toward the street. Green Mountain can handle heat and drought, and is probably the most shade-tolerant of the large trees. Zones 3-8. Mature Height: 70 ft. Mature Spread: 40 ft.
