Fenway Park opened on April 20, 1912, making it the oldest ballpark still in active use in Major League Baseball. Fenway Park is the second home for the Boston Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox were founded in 1893 and received their name "Red Sox" based on the red footwear worn by the team. The Boston Red Sox were best owned by Joseph Lannin from 1913-1916 and it was he who signed baseball legend, Babe Ruth.
In 2004, the Boston Red Sox broke their 86 year "curse" of seasons without a World Series Championship. The Red Sox then won another World Series Championship in 2007.
