Item Description

2009 Pinot Noir - Clone 115, La Encantada Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills Flower-powered, sleek and decidedly feminine, almost feline in character... Julie Newmar in her "Cat Woman" outfit, long, lean and elegant. Brilliant bright spicy floral red fruit, fresh, and a beauty of a wine to drink. Full-flavored chicken dishes sound good here, or some really fine cheeses, or a roast prime rib of pork. Our featured recipe is Chicken "a la Bordelaise". 2009 Pinot Noir - Clone 667, La Encantada Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills Darkly brooding, ruggedly graceful, mysterious in a friendly way, open yet reserved at the same time, utterly charming. In a word, "Clooney-esque". Earthy and forest-y, suggestive of black fruits and berries and dark spice. A swarthy wine to accompany a really good Stilton, almost any grilled or roasted meat or game, or pasta in a gorgonzola sauce. 2009 Pinot Noir - Mt. Eden Clone, El Jabalí Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills Here is the Mt. Eden selection of Pinot Noir, planted at Rancho El Jabalí around 1984. (The cuttings came from Sanford & Benedict.) These are the heritage vines you drive through when you come to Alma Rosa Winery tasting room and "headquarters" just off of Santa Rosa Road. Clove-scented, violet rose-petalled, minty herbal dusty cocoa-truffled vanilla-swirl iced raspberry pooled with a cherry dropdead prettiness, a slow-to-reveal dark side and a surprising killer grip (arm wrestling with Linda Furst in the 4th grade) - (damn!) So, with food, you can go subtle, almost delicate to emphasize the wine (filet of sole or trout in a brown butter sauce with fresh herbs); or you can go brash and bold to challenge the wine (hoisin lamb stir fry tacos)... Our featured recipe pairing is Chicken with Herbes de Provence Grilled Under a Brick.
