Dan Dailey works primarily in his Kensington, New Hampshire studio. He is also a professor at Massachusetts College of Art where he founded the Glass Department in 1973. He has taught at numerous glass programs including Rhode Island School of Design, Pilchuck Glass School and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and has given lectures and workshops around the world.
In 1972 Dailey was artist in residence under a Fulbright Fellowship to Italy where he worked at the Venini glass factory on the island of Murano. He has also received fellowships from both the Massachusetts Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, and has an Honorary Lifetime Membership to the Glass Art Society. In the 1980’s Dailey worked with Italian glass maestro Lino Tagliapietra on a collaboration that resulted in blown glass vessels that are still sought after 20 years later by contemporary glass collectors. He has completed more than 60 architectural commissions for corporate headquarters, hospitals, municipalities, a county courthouse, a performing arts center and private residences. His work is represented in more than 50 museum and public collections worldwide.
