About "Chef" Jere Lifshitz
Jere has a strong background in nutrition and was a nutritional support nurse early in her career. Her husband, Fima Lifshitz, MD, is a world-renowned pediatric endocrinologist with an additional specialty in children’s nutrition. They are co-authors of the book, Children’s Nutrition.
Jere has been a member of CBB since moving to Santa Barbara over 6 years ago. Jere is not a professional chef, but someone who has enjoyed cooking for family and friends since first grade. She has sought out markets around the world and has ventured into kitchens to learn about local specialties.
Jere likes to prepare a rainbow diet of nutritious and colorful food – preferably grown locally. Her husband claims that in 25 years Jere has rarely made the same dinner twice!
Jere's friends know her as a dessert queen - particularly chocolate - since Fima considers chocolate an essential food! she has made her signature chocolate desserts in kitchens in many countries.
