Description
Battleship IOWA is the West Coast?s only Battleship open to the public, located at the L.A. Waterfront, former home to the US Navy Battleship fleet prior to World War II and an area rich in maritime history. Walk the wood decks and see areas such as the 16? guns, 5? guns, missile decks, bridge, mess areas, and the world famous Captain?s Cabin - with the only bathtub installed on a battleship for a President. Known as ?The Battleship of Presidents,? IOWA has hosted three Presidents - Franklin D. Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush - and numerous dignitaries during almost 70 years of service.
General Access Passes
This self-guided tour includes both interior and exterior access for up to seven decks along a one directional tour route that provides enough space for Physical distancing between individual family groups. You can travel at your own pace while utilizing the Free Award winning Battleship IOWA application on your own mobile device. This tour allows guests interior access to the Officers Wardroom, Senior Officers cabins, Admirals Bridge, Navigation Bridge and Crews Quarters daily. Weekend access also includes the Main Galley, Crew's Mess Hall and the Museum on the second deck. Plan on spending around 2 hours to view all exhibit spaces along the tour path. Transition between decks is by ladders (naval jargon for stairs). We do not have elevators or lifts available at this time. Be sure to look for our virtual tours of the Battleship online if you have physical constraints that would hinder your using the ladders while onboard.
