Brett Smith was born in Durban, South Africa and currently lives and works in Atlanta, GA. His work is anchored in the world of gestural abstraction where he constantly explores different media to create new images inspired by the botanical world. Brett is a self-taught artist whose work has been represented by prestigious Atlanta galleries, including the Bill Lowe Gallery and Vaknin Gallery. Sandler Hudson Gallery currently represents his work in Atlanta and will be having an exhibition of his new work in May 2010. Career highlights include a critically favorable review of his first solo show, by Debra Wolf in the AJC (2007) and being included in the rising stars show at MOCA GA in January 2009.
