This 6-Hour Combo package gives you the basics needed to get you on the road!  You'll have access to the Online Drivers Education Course, complete with unlimited access to DMV Practice Exams, your certificate of completion, and certificate of enrollment in Drivers Training. Once you pass your written exam and obtain your permit, then you can start your behind-the-wheel lessons.   

DMV APPROVED CA DRIVERS ED ONLINE COURSE

Drivers Ed Direct introduces a drivers education course that you can complete entirely online. That's right, no classroom attendance required. This course is approved by the CA DMV to satisfy the Driver Education requirement for getting your LEARNERS PERMIT.

6-HOURS IN-CAR DRIVERS TRAINING
  Meet your 6-hour California DMV Drivers Training Requirement with three private 2-hour driving sessions.  Each lesson is taught by a friendly and patient instructor who will teach basic driving skills in different environments, including an intro to freeway driving.  It’s everything you need for your PROVISIONAL LICENSE.  

6 Hour Lesson Details

1st 2-hour lesson (Level 1): Level-1 primarily consists of residential driving. If the student is advanced, then we can conduct the last half hour out in traffic. The main focus of the lesson is to teach the student how to safely and correctly perform the following maneuvers:

  • Pre-Drive Inspection
  • Accelerate and Brake
  • Left and Right Hand Turns
  • Proper Lane Positioning
  • Traffic Checks
  • Curbside Parking, Reversing and Turnabouts

2nd 2-hour lesson (Level 2): After briefly reviewing the Level 1 residential maneuvers, we will teach the student how to safely and correctly perform the following maneuvers out in traffic:

  • Left and Right Hand Turns in Major Intersections
  • Lane Changes
  • Parallel Parking and all other Parking Maneuvers
  • Traffic Checks and Proper Space Cushions
  • Legal and Safe U-turns

3rd 2-hour lesson (Level 3): After reviewing the concepts learned on Level 1 and Level 2, we will discuss safe driving strategies for the following advanced driving environments:

  • Intro to Freeway Driving

Finally, we will perform a simulated DMV Drive Test.

6-Hour Behind-the-Wheel Program Recap 

  • Meets 6-hour California DMV Teen Training Requirement (Three Private 2-hour driving lessons) 
  • Teaches Basic Driving Maneuvers in Different Driving Environments 
  • Includes an Intro to Freeway Driving

Item Special Note

Students who are 14 1/2 years of age can start the online drivers eduacation course, but being 15 is recommended.

Students who are 15 can be issued a student license by Drivers Ed Direct to begin behind the wheel training with Drivers Ed Direct instructors only.

 

Students who have completed the driver's education course and are 15 1/2 can take the DMV written test to get a learners permit.

 

Students who are at least 16 years of age and have successfully completed both drivers education and drivers training may take the DMV drive test to get a provisional drivers license once they have held their permit for at least 6 months.
