Item Description
Reconnect with the streets and sounds of New York City! The original illustration was created for Overlooked New York: Impassioned New Yorkers from an Artist's Perspective, a collection of portraits and interviews with ardent New Yorkers about their joyous obsessions by Zina Saunders. Each of the illustrations in Saunders book, including Ebony Hillbillies, were inspired by real New Yorkers who have found fascinating ways to unleash their joy on the roofs and rivers and parks and streets of New York. You are bidding on a signed print by Zina Saunders.
Zina Saunders has been a writer-illustrator for more than 15 years. In addition to contributions in a variety of periodicals (including The Wall Street Journal, The Progressive, The Nation, The San Francisco Chronicle, and Foreign Policy magazine), her client list includes Chronicle Books, Simon & Schuster, Random House, Scholastic, and Oxford University Press. In June 2005, her focus shifted from general illustration to reportage illustration, when she wrote a story for Time Out New York about the Puerto Rico Schwinn Club, an outgrowth of her Overlooked New York website, which interviews and portraits of impassioned New Yorkers.
