Hugo Xavier Bastidas, an associate professor of art at NJCU, has had his work exhibited in more than 200 one-person and group shows throughout the United States, South Korea, France, Spain, England, Canada, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Ecuador, Germany, Iceland, Hungary, Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, Denmark, and Japan, as well as in private, public, and corporate collections worldwide.
The recipient of numerous awards and fellowships for his work, including a Fulbright Fellowship, a Pollack Krasner Grant, and an NEA Grant, Mr. Bastidas has been an artist-in-residence at Art Omi International Artists Colony in Omi, New York; Bennington College, Fundacion Valparaiso in Mojacar, Spain; Artist Studio Weisweiler in Berlin, Gallery Boreas in Reykjavik, Camac Artists Residency in Nogent sur Seine, France; the Hungarian Multicultural Center in Budapest, and Can Serrat in Barcelona. In 2009, Mr. Bastidas was inducted into the National Academy Museum & School of Fine Arts, an honorary society of artists and architects. He has been represented by Nohra Haime Gallery in Manhattan for more than 16 years and is also represented by galleries in Florida, Massachusetts, Spain, Korea, Iceland, and Argentina.
