Item Description

Truly a beauty in watercolor and mixed media. Inspired by nature, artist Bronia Ichel interprets nuances of texture, color and light with a fresh perspective using a variety of materials and hand made papers incorporated into her mixed media collages and paintings.

Bronia Ichel `74, of Fairfax Station, Virgina, is an alumna of New Jersey City University,  She was born in Poland and came to the United States with her family at the age of 13.  An educator and an artist, Bronia works in watercolor, acrylics, and mixed media and has recently also turned to photography to capture the moments in light and color. She has been fortunate to have the opportunity to live and travel in many parts of the world with her husband and her journey has been an inspiration for her expression.  She has lived in the Netherlands and Belgium where she studied painting under Albert Dolmans in The Hague.  In New Orleans, LA she studied at the New Orleans Art League and founded and directed Bronia’s Creative Art School. Most recently she spent a year in Northern Alberta, Canada where she studied with Carol Breene, an award winning Canadian artist on an international level.  There, Bronia found inspiration in the natural wonder of the area’s wilderness which are reflected in her paintings.

Bronia is also an experienced art teacher who has encouraged and influenced many young artists.  She has taught in New Jersey and in Virginia where she has recently retired from teaching at Fairfax County Public Schools, and is now teaching adults and children at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA.
