Description:

Lacquer Thread Sculpture is the glorious folk handicraft in the area of Minnan (Amoy, South Fujian) in China, enjoying popularity for nearly three hundred years.

However, at the beginning of the 20th century, the craft was almost lost due to its primitive and time-consuming manufacturing processes. Today, due to its valuable and unique artistic style, it has become the national present given to the most prestigious overseas guests, and it has won the honor of being the gift of the motherland of China.

The main material of Lacquer Thread Sculpture is made by the natural lacquer being cut off from Field Lacquer tree one of the rarest and most precious resins. This kind of lacquer is very glossy, heat-resisting and firm, and can agglutinate any item. Each sculpture goes through over 12 handworked processes including striping, plating, entangling, piling, carving, encasing, engraving, etc. Its surface is covered in pure 24K gold, and its purity is above 98.9%, so it will always retain its permanent gloss.
