Exhibiting artist and art educator Boris Shoshensky received art education in the formal traditions of Russian and the West-European schools. Studying modernism taught him to respect the "two-dimensionality" of the painted surface, the modeling importance of color from Cezanne, the power of color the from Fauves and Expressionists, liberation of "Form," from Futurists and Russian Constructivists. He moved to the United States in 1979 from Ukraine, and with Ralph Nagel is cofounder of the circle of Colorado artists "Studio 208."
