Kelly Cuenca, a student at NJCU, has served NJCU’s Art and Design Association in several offices and coordinated events for the Association including the 3D Illustration Workshop with Liz Lomax. She has shown her work at Les Malamut Gallery in Union, 32 Jones Gallery, in Jersey City and had pieces in the shows "Trace", and "Aftermath". At NJCU, she has contributed artwork to student art auctions for Diversity Stride and the Student Assistance Fund. She was also a member of NJCU’s winning team in the Art Directors Club of New Jersey Design Derby. Her art is inspired by Japanese cartoons and comics and she admires artists such as Red Nose Studios, Jo Chen, and Peter De Seve.
“Kelly’s projects were delightful, insightful, in some cases beautiful and in all cases brilliant. Her work was an inspiration to her classmates as it helped to encourage more creative solutions to the art problem posed by the assignment. In every way she was a delight to have in class. I believe Ms. Cuenca will be successful in her chosen career, Illustration, and I look forward to seeing her work in popular magazines and websites.”
–Ellen Quinn, Professor of Art, NJCU
