Item Description
Discover how biologists use motion and heat triggered cameras for conservation research in a discussion with Dr. Joe Kolowski, Research Ecologist and International Training Coordinator at the National Zoo's Center for Conservation Education and Sustainability. Joe will discuss the different types of trail cameras that exist, how they are used by different Smithsonian researchers to study wildlife, and how they can be used in your backyard to monitor your own wildlife species. Joe has recently conducted trail camera surveys in the Peruvian Amazon and has hundreds of photos of the forest's most secretive mammal species. The winning bidder will be invited to the office of CCES on the national mall for the discussion, which will include a slideshow depicting a researcher's life in an Amazon camp, and showing some of Joe's best trail camera photos
