Item Description

This wine basket is for a person who is serious about their wine.  There are some incredible wines here, all different, all fabulous.  Please see below for the incredible descriptions.  This class really went all out...enjoy!

  • Chateau Gloria Saint-Julien 2005 ($75) Round, generous, rich, long tasting with cedary and spicy bouquets.  The wine of Chateau Gloria shows well young and ages well.
  • Chateau de LaTour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2006 ($85)  This is quite ripe in the context of the vintage; and the relatively late harvesting date shows as the nose gives up notes of earth and spice suffused raspberry and cherry liqueur that is most seductive.  This accessibility extends to the strikingly complex, serious, intense and precise big bodied flavors that are powerful and extremely, primarily, supported by burried tannins and excellent length.
  • Penfolds St. Henri's Shiraz 1996 Vintage ($120)  Piquantly ripe and fragrant, it is fruit driven from start to finish, with a smooth and supple fresh berry palate and plush tannins.
  • Veuve Cliquot ($50) - everyone's favorite for any occassion!
  • Cote Rotie, La Comtesse En Cote Blonde, Christophe Pichon ($86)  A classic blonde, very pretty and built on finesse and elegance with sweet black cherry and raspberry notes intermixed with a bit of smoke, roasted herbs and tapenade.
  • Chateau Gruaud Larose Saint-Julien 1994 ($80) A consistently high quality wine.  Beautifully structured, and with aging, develops all the complexities of a great Bordeaux.
  • Tenuata Rocca-Barolo ($75)  Made with grapes from the Nebbiolo vineyard.  Brilliant, garnet red of good intensity with slight garnet/orange highlights.  Robust and suitably tannic but not too austere.  Soft, balanced and harmonic; very intense and persistent finish with sensations reminiscent of the rose.
  • Tattinger ($31) Distinguished by a delicate nose with subtle brioche notes, the wine has a palate of considerable depth and balance with hints of honey and fresh fruit with a long vibrant finish.
  • Beychevelle, Bordeaux Blend Dry Red 2006 ($60) This St. Julien leans toward more of a Margaux style.  The attractive earthy, floral, red currant, and raspberry notes are impressively intense and complex in the aromatics.  This dark ruby/purple tinged wine displays elegance, finesse and a beautiful mouthfeel in a restrained, moderately intense, but still classic style with sweet tannins.  Tobacco, cedar, earth, and red and black fruits are prominent in both the aromas and flavors.
  • Domaine Monpertuis 2006 ($60) The powerful Chateauneuf du Pape gorgeously expresses the terroir of the region.  The complex aromas include kirsh, prunes, black currants, tobacco and violets.
