Item Description
Three of the most sought after wines from Turley; 2007 Contra Costa County Zinfandel, Salvador Vineyard, 2006 California Zinfandel Juvenile, and 2007 Lodi Zinfandel Dogtown Vinyard.
Turley is the name when it comes to blockbuster Zinfandels. These are California's richest, most powerful, and most exotic Zinfandels, taken from forgotten old-vine holdings throughout central and northern California (and now even down to Baja California!) These wines often are really showcases for the rich, ripe old-vine fruit.
2007 Contra Costa County Zinfandel, Salvador Vineyard -From Turley's Winemaker Notes: The sandy soils of Contra Costa County provide the Salvador Zinfandel unique aromatic and textural profiles. Stone fruit flavors – yellow, red and purple – leap out of the glass and the tannins are more akin to Pinot noir than they are to Zinfandel. Planted in the late 1800’s, this dry farmed vineyard produces wines of great intensity and the terroir brings balance and complexity to the spicy, brambly, red and black berry finish.
2006 California Zinfandel Juvenile - According to the Wine Spectator: It has a deeper ruby color, with hints of roasted herbs, pepper, nori (seaweed wrapper) intermixed with black cherry, raspberry, plum, and some spice. It is a fleshy wine with loads of fruit, medium to full body, and a supple texture."
The fabulous 2007 Zinfandel Dogtown, from the backwaters of Lodi, may be the finest Zinfandel you will ever taste from Lodi. A deep ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of incense, blackberries, raspberries and pepper. Light on its feet for its size, with gorgeous concentration, and a long finish, it should drink well for 5-7 years.
