Item Description
The Chamber Music Society of Lower Basin Street made its debut on February 11, 1940. It was a weekly half-hour of jazz, played by leading practitioners of the day. This collection is the shows tribute to W. C. Handy and includes the weekly bandleader Henry Levine conducting the Dixieland Jazz Group with the late great Lena Horne on Side A and Dixieland Jazz Group performing instrumentals on Side B. This set is comprised of some of the most famous of the music broadcast by the Society all on four 78's.
