Item Description
Artwork by the Chuck and Michelle Dyer
Shane Beschen grew up surfing and competing in the perennial surfing hotbed of San Clemente. After a very successful amateur career, Shane ascended to the World Tour where he would regularly challenge a young up and comer from Florida by the name of Kelly Slater. While competing in a WCT event at Kirra, Shane became the first and only professional surfer to score three perfect 10 point rides for a total 30 out of 30 in the ASP three-wave scoring system. Shane is retired from the tour and lives in Hawaii.
Charles and Michelle Dyer grew up in San Clemente in the sixties and seventies. They started making art in the midst of the psychedelic movement. They were heavily influenced by close friend and artist Rick Griffin, a vanguard in the psychedelic art movement. Rick wasn't the only influence-Michelle's uncle is John Severson, an acclaimed artist/photographer as well as founder of Surfer Magazine. Living near the water has given their art a surf-tinged perspective. Charles calls their work, California Art Nouveau.
