Item Description
Elizabeth Mead, of Orleans, MA, is familiar with most artistic media - and creates works in many - because for years she taught the arts. And this work is a fine example of her mixed-media talents.
It’s a shell collage and more - including the iconic image of Cape Cod in sand. The paper it’s on is also Elizabeth’s own creation. In fact, Elizabeth - a member of the Society of Cape Cod Craftsmen and the Artisans’ Guild of Cape Cod - notes that she would often start her academic year teaching students to make paper. The paper would then become the basis of many of their student art projects.
Item Special Note
Elizabeth Mead is a member of the Society of Cape Cod Craftsmen, a professional organization whose members have hosted live craft fairs on the Cape for 58 years.
This framed, handmade paper and shell collage measures 13" square.
