Item Description
This is "Flower and Root Vegetables", an early 18th-Century hand-colored lithograph first published in "Curtis's Botanical Magazine". This publication, for the first time, brought detailed illustrations of plants to a general audience. It was the brainchild of British botanist William Curtis and used his own work and that of several other gifted illustrators. The litho itself measures 10" x 7 7/8" and is in mint condition. Matted in museum board in a gold-painted wood frame, overall dimensions are 16" x 30". This is a donation from the collection of Stephan and Julia Brigidi of the Bristol Workshops in Photography, Bristol, RI
