Item Description
"So you want to be a buddhist?" was popular cartoonist Andre Slob's first illustration assignment from the Shambhala Sun. His drawings for that piece included a pig reflecting on his good fortune at not having been reincarnated as an ameoba, a wealthy man emerging from his limo long enough to drop coins into the waiting hat of a panhandler, and a mother meditating in the midst of a household erupting in chaos. Andre's droll depiction and skewering of stereotypes of buddhist equanimity instantly won him a place in the hearts of art department staff and readers and led to a relationship that continues to this day.
For the 2010 auction Andre has given us five pen and ink drawings that originally appeared as illustrations in the Shambhala Sun. We hope you'll luxuriate in the dryness of Andre's humour the way countless readers have.
Dimensions: approx. 9" x 5.5"
Medium: pen and ink on paper
