Item Description

Head to Hollyhock Retreat and Educational Center on British Columbia's spectacular Cortes Island and take part in Meditation: Tasting the Fruit, August 21 to 26, 2011, led by Tim Olmstead.

This item includes the cost of the retreat plus a five night stay in dormitory-style accommodation and all meals. On the subject of Hollyhock's facilties and services a past guest says it best: "Thank you Hollyhock staff, board, bodyworkers, gardeners, COOKS, guests. Thank you, beach, hot tubs, earth, sky, sea, thundering winds, dancing trees. Thank you, whoever designs all of Hollyhock with equal parts thoughtfulness, sustainability, functionality, and beauty." It appears this visitor was particularly fond of the food!

Situated on Canada's west coast at the mouth of Desolation Sound on Cortes Island Hollyhock will host retreatants gathered to hear teachings on meditation given by Tim Olmstead, president of the Pema Chödrön Foundation. In 2003, after a visit by Mingyur Rinpoche to Gampo Abbey, the key beneficiary of the Pema Chodron Foundation, Tim started the Yongey Foundation to support and promote Mingyur Rinpoche's activities in the West.

Hollyhock is an educational retreat centre and focal point of learning and connection. It is dedicated to inspiring, nourishing and supporting people who are making the world better. The center is about 100 miles north of Vancouver.
