Menla Mountain Retreat & Conference Center, operated by Tibet House US, was founded to provide a place for groups and individuals to further their professional and personal development. Since opening in 2002, it has received rave reviews for its beauty, meditative environment, and high-quality accomodations. It is located only two hours from New York City in a secluded valley in the heart of the Catskill National Forest Preserve. Named "Menla" after the Medicine Buddha, the center aims to develop an integrative healing center.
Program includes tuition, deluxe private accommodations and gourmet vegetarian meals.
Sharon Salzberg experienced a childhood involving considerable loss and turmoil. An early realization of the power of meditation to overcome personal suffering determined her life direction. Her teaching and writing now communicates that power to a worldwide audience of practitioners. She offers non-sectarian retreat and study opportunities for participants from widely diverse backgrounds.
Robert A.F. Thurman, Ph.D., Professor of Indo-Tibetan Studies at Columbia University and President of Tibet House U.S., is a popular lecturer on Tibetan Buddhism, the translator of many philosophical treatises and sutras, and author of numerous books including the national bestseller Inner Revolution: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Real Happiness and Anger.
