Mask Description: George Knapp has followed and reported on the Burea of Land Management's plan to manage the wild mustang population. This plan includes killing thousands of horses every year. There were 2 million horses that roamed in 1900 but their numbers have dwindled down to just a few thousand. This mask is a tribute to those horses, their preservation and George's award-winning reporting on their plight. Media: acrylic paint, tin and copper. Hours invested in this creation: 6 About the artist: Born in Mexico City, Alberto Martinez moved to the U.S. in 1996 with his wife, Jenyan. They currently reside in Las Vegas where both are instructors at Innovations International Charter School of Nevada. Alberto also serves as web designer and webmaster to IICSN and "Un-Masking the Mind".
