Item Description

"In Buddha's Dictionary" is the work of artist Carole Leslie, a past contributor to Buddhadharma: The Practitioner's Quarterly.

By way of introducing this piece and to better understand Carole's style there's this telling note on the profile page of her website: "Favorite Materials: paper, paper and paper, did I mention paper, torn paper, script papers, old books, weird bits, old newspaper, letter stamps, anything green, orange or magenta, especially paint."

Carole says: "This mixed media piece is meant to bring peace and tranquility to any living space.  This 10"x10" original mixed media piece is done on a deep cradled panel (wood) and is ready to hang. The dictionary definition of "Buddha" is transferred on to the left hand side of the image and some handmade Asian script papers appear on the right. The piece is textured and has layers of paint in blues and greens. The piece begs the question: Who is the Buddha? How Do you define him in your life?"
