Item Description
Description of Process: After reading The Mixed-Up Chameleon by Eric Carle, the preschoolers learned how Eric Carle produces his collages. The children then painted on transparent paper with various colors and materials with the goal of mimicking Carle’s work by creating surfaces for the collages varying in color and texture. The following week, the painted paper was cut into various shapes so that it could be used to recreate some of the animal collages seen in Carle’s books. With parent volunteers facilitating, children worked together to put the pieces of the collages together which were later glued onto different colors of canvas paper. The result is a stunning collection that would add colorful wonder to any child’s room!
