Item Description
Beautiful photo book by Italian art photographer Gerardo Leccese.
(softcover edition - also available in hardcover)
"The Cinque Terre (which means five lands) is a series of villages clinging to a remote stretch of the Italian Riviera between Genoa and Pisa. The rugged villages, founded in the Dark Ages by locals hiding out from pirates, were extremely isolated until the last century. Today, the villages are linked by a milk-run train, a ferry, and a trail that offers spectacular views of the sea and the towns. To preserve the character of the towns and the area's natural beauty permanently, the Italian government has declared the Cinque Terre region a national park - towns and all."
Gerardo Leccese was born and raised in Rapone, Italy, and immigrated to New York city when he was 17. He studied art at the Istituto d'Arte in Italy, F.I.T. in New York City, and The Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore. He lives in Charleston, South Carolina and travels widely as a photographer and artist. Winner of several awards, his work has been shown in many art shows.
