Item Description

Beautiful photo book by Italian art photographer Gerardo Leccese.

(softcover edition - also available in hardcover)

"Rapone is a town in the province of Potenza (Basilicata) with a population of 1,100.  It rises 834 Meters above sea level. The town is a haven for metal, wood, and ceramic artists  Rapone was a "Feudo" for many centuries, until the year 1806, when the system was annulled.  The patron saint is San Vito who is celebrated yearly on June 15th. Towns people adorn the streets with flowers, followed by a parade, music and fireworks by night.  It's a great town to visit, as I often do, to enjoy the simple life, the great food, and the great company of the people who always make you feel welcome and at home."

Gerardo Leccese was born and raised in Rapone, Italy, and immigrated to New York city when he was 17.  He studied art at the Istituto d'Arte in Italy, F.I.T. in New York City, and The Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore.  He lives in Charleston, South Carolina and travels widely as a photographer and artist.  Winner of several awards, his work has been shown in many art shows.
