Item Description
Big Horn, 2010
Acrylic on Canvas, 36 x 48
Minneapolis minimalist Kate Heegaard Hartfiel, "melds something like the iconic Marlboro Man with the attitude of Joan Miro: bright colors, curving lines and cowboys." - The Minnesota Daily, May 2010. The lone cowboy evokes the feel of times past, but the bright, solid colors bring this piece directly into the 21st century.
Artist Statement: This current body of work explores the working relationship between horse and rider, specifically as it relates to ranching and rodeo. I have chosen to use the silhouette to illustrate this relationship, as the horse and rider are interdependent on one another often to the point of becoming one, to complete the task at hand.
