Item Description
Rod Carew is a true baseball legend as well as a man our kids can look up to as a hero. Bring home this Carew autographed baseball as an example of excellence and sportsmanship for your family.
Born in Panama, Carew moved to New York with his family when he was only fourteen. He played for the Twins for 12 seasons, and in his entire 19-year career, played on 18 All Star teams. Carew and Willie Mays share the distinction of being the only players to earn all of the following honors: Rookie of the Year (1967), MVP (1977), 3,000 hits (1985), and voted into the Hall of Fame (1991). In 1977, Carew earned the Roberto Clemente Award for 'best exemplifying the game of baseball, sportsmanship, and community involvement.' After retiring in 1986, Carew stayed involved in his community by opening a baseball school for children.
