Item Description

Kookoolan Farms

Making artisan cheeses at home is easier than you thought, a great hobby to add if you already enjoy homebrewing, home winemaking, home breadbaking, or cooking.  You can make and age your own gourmet specialty cheeses for a fraction of the cost of buying them.  Let Kookoolan Farms show you how - our wonderful cheesemaking classes were recognized by Food and Wine Magazine as one of the 100 Best New Food and Drink Experiences (in the world!) in the May 2010 issue, and one of the Top 100 Trends in the West in Sunset Magazine, February 2011!

Enjoy a generous gourmet cheese tasting plate, and a fun afternoon learning how to make cheese.  This raffle item is a gift certificate for $65 toward the cost of any cheesemaking class.  Tuition includes both the cheese tasting and a $10 coupon good toward the purchase of anything at the farm.  Classes are $50 to $95 per person.  The schedule of classes is posted on the Classes and Events page at www.kookoolanfarms.com.

Kookoolan Farms is a diversified small farm in Yamhill, Oregon, now in its sixth year of operation.  One of only a handful of small farms in the state with licensed, inspected, on-farm poultry processing, they pasture-raise heritage breed chickens for meat and eggs; and offer pasture-raised beef, pork, venison and lamb; heirloom Red Bourbon breed turkeys for Thanksgiving only; and have occasional other gamebirds such as pheasants, ducks and geese.  Our pasture-raised chickens are available at all New Seasons Markets, fresh weekly April through October.
