Item Description
The book extols the comestible virtues of over forty species of edible wild plants, all but a few of which can be found in Concord and surrounding communities. Keys to the identification of each species are provided, as well as information about its edible portion(s), season(s)of availability, flavor and nutritive value, and some tips on preparation if necessary. Guidelines for safe and environmentally responsible foraging are also provided. Entertaining anecdotes and recipes are presented for many of the plants. Two appendices supply specific information about when to harvest the various edible portions of wild plants as well as how to avoid adverse ecological impacts.
Item Special Note
The book will be signed and embellished with a note mentioning plants covered in my book that were known to be gathered and eaten by Thoreau and/or can readily be found today in Concord.
