Item Description
Title: untitled
Medium: fused and slumped glass
Size: 7” square
Additional Information: This gorgeous glass plate is made in several layers of glass, each with a different design—and is then fused and later slumped in two separate kiln firings over a multi-day period. Iridized glass with an iridescent finish, embedded bubble patterns, and metallic highlights all appear to swirl together in this piece. The result has both depth and weight. The plate can be used as a decorative accent but is also safe for food use.
About the Artist: Sarah Pick has been working with mosaics and fused glass for the past five years; she has taught mosaic-making in Baltimore-area schools. Pick favors unusual combinations of materials in her designs. “To me, glass is the ideal canvas for creative expression—reflective of light and color, it can be fluid and solid.” Her studio is called Dancing Glass Designs, constantly reminding herself of the potential movement waiting to be unharnessed with each piece.
