Additional Information: This oversized plaster medallion was created by the artist as a model for the 3” Presidential Medal annually commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery. About the Artist: Classically trained in painting, sculpture and architecture, Michael Curtis has primarily devoted himself to sculpture for the past 20 years. While his specialty is relief portraits and medallions, his recent life-size statues include General Eisenhower and The Shipbuilder, both located in Alexandria, Virginia, and a bust Justice Thurgood Marshall installed at the US Supreme Court. He has been featured in over 30 exhibitions, and his work appears in over 200 public and private collections.  Curtis is a frequent lecturer at such prominent institutions as the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.
