Item Description
Title: “Diamond Lamp”
Medium: Stained Glass
Size: 13-1/2”” W x 18” H
Additional Information: This lamp has an elegant hexagonal shade that is 13-1/2” wide and 8” high; each of its six panels is accented with a diamond-shaped inset. The difference in colors between when the lamp is off and on is achieved through a unique layering of glass. When off, the top appears to be blue, and the bottom appears to be white; when illuminated, the blue top gets considerably lighter—and streaked with white, while the bottom becomes pink. The base is metal with a hand-rubbed brass finish.
About the Artist: Betsy Weinschel became entranced with stained glass when she went to an old stone church with stained glass windows as a small child with her grandparents. She took her first stained glass course in 1970 and has been concentrating on it since 1990. She has created pieces as large as fireplace screens and windows. She takes special care to select glass that is quite unique. Weinschel resides in Norfolk, Virginia.
