Item Description
Title: Untitled
Medium: Cibachrome print of an original painting on exposed canvas
Size: 37 ½” W x 29 ½” H framed; 31” W x 23” H image
Additional Information: A bold, vibrant work in the artist’s signature style, the compelling imagery suggests a fantastic voyage through surreal terrain strewn with musical instruments and featuring a stark white stairway. Perhaps the destination is extraterrestrial; perhaps it is the inner recesses of the mind. You decide. Professional framing in silver gilt wood expertly enhances the visual impact of this dramatic piece.
About the Artist: Stan Solomon, the creator of the original painting is an extremely popular contemporary artist and a graduate of Brooks Institute in California and New York Institute of Technology. Asked for an “artist’s statement”, he once said: "I don't have one…. Julie, who has worked with me for over 25 years, says, 'Each piece is like a love letter from the 'Land of High Whimsy'….” In commenting on the linear, geometric style of his original paintings, Solomon states: “Some people … think that it is either computer-generated or airbrushed. It is neither…. It is produced by brushes, acrylic paint, masking tape, and ultra smooth canvas…. I use rulers and pencils and lots of erasers. Once the sketch is complete, I paint on a relatively horizontal surface rather than an easel.”
The resulting linearity and flat, crisp texture of the artist’s style are particularly suited for rendering high quality reproductions, which are remarkably close to his original, highly sought after paintings.
